Hello,
My name is Erin Gaffney, an AS student studying at Christ The King Sixth Form College. For my media coursework I have been asked to create a front cover, contents page and a double page spread of my own music magazine. I will have to take all my own photos and manipulate them myself. I will design and create the magazine myself and gain inspiration from the outcomes of my planning an research. I will do this through audience research and various other methods such as textual analysis and conventions diagrams. I have gained these analytical skills through studying English Literature. Planning and research will help me to get a better understanding of who I want my target audience to be through profiling my audience.
I have already completed a preliminary task which I found very helpful in gaining crucial Photoshop skills, which I have found difficult getting a grips on. I created a college magazine front cover and contents page using the skills I have developed.
The genre I have chosen for my music magazine is indie. I took the inspiration for the magazine as it is the music that influences me, the way I dress and the choice of friends I have. At the moment though the genre and culture of indie is in a box of middle class white teenagers. I want to expand this box and subvert conventions of the genre.
